About Slater Aviation
We believe the key to aviation safety is excellent training that fosters deep understanding and builds true mastery. Our mission is to create educational tools and experiences that go beyond basic test prep and help produce the best pilots in the world. We do this by tackling the toughest topics and finding innovative ways to elevate the knowledge and expertise of our clients.
Our founder
B.J. Slater
B.J. Slater is a 25-year aviation educator with a deep background in human factors, aviation safety, and education. He has been a CFI in Part 61 and Part 141 flight schools, served as Chief Flight Instructor at a large Part 61 Flight School. He went on to teach human factors ground schools at the airline level, serve as the Director of Safety for a regional airline, and been an invited speaker at aviation safety conferences.
He developed an interest in human factors while earning his aviation technology degree from Purdue University. Throughout his career he experienced first hand how quality training improves human performance and decision making in the complex technical environment of a flight deck. He founded Slater Aviation as a way to continue his quest to improve aviation safety through education.
B.J. is honored to serve as one of the inaugural Ambassadors for the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) promoting the organization’s mission of elevating aviation education.
